Why SugarCRM?

SugarCRM is a customer relationship management software suite with an open source foundation. It is extensively used by businesses to streamline their customer management processes. SugarCRM encompasses all aspects of dealing with prospects and customers including sales force management, call centers, marketing and technical support in any business. With SugarCRM, the communication between the customer and business becomes smooth, creating an effective feedback mechanism.It is built on the PHP coding platform and provides CRM functions like sales management, lead tracking, project management and issue tracking "out of the box".

SugarCRM comes in five different versions:

• SugarCRM Community Edition
• SugarCRM Professional
• SugarCRM Corporate
• SugarCRM Enterprise
• SugarCRM Ultimate

SugarCRM Community Edition is a AGPLv3 licensed open source software. Thus it's available for free download and use.

The other versions of SugarCRM share the same (open source) code tree as SugarCRM Community Edition, but they have additional functionality, some regarded as very important for a CRM system (reporting, for instance), so we highly recommend that our customers base their CRM solution on either SugarCRM Professional or Corporate/Enterprise/Ultimate.

The software was officially launched in 2004. Since then, a community of thousands of web development companies and individuals provide SugarCRM development and customisation services, as well as plug-ins and add-ons through SugarForge.org and SugarExchange.com.
