Alfresco Workdesk

Alfresco Workdesk is the first choice of many organisations for transactional content management where maximum throughput and efficiency are key requirements. Although it comes with a pure web front-end, it is as user friendly as a fat client: Grab & Drag allows the user to resize portions of the screen by simply grabbing a separator and dragging it to the desired position. Drag & Drop of documents directly into Alfresco Workdesk facilitates adding documents as well as auto-completion of drop-down lists or the auto-opening of the viewer with the newly added document. The pleasant user experience is completed by a folder tree that opens and closes smoothly as well as a hit list that loads pages dynamically and allows in-line editing of metadata, the reordering of columns, and the display of thumbnail previews of documents.The main functionalities are:

With a set of native adapters together with an abstraction layer, Alfresco Workdesk applications can work on top of different ECM systems and be migrated easily from the ECM system of one vendor to a different one. In addition, CMIS, the powerful open standard for enterprise content management, is fully supported, and this takes the concept even further by allowing the same application to run on all CMIS-compliant ECM repositories, e.g. Alfresco, IBM, FileNet, EMC Documentum and Open Text.
